Allyson Thomas
Graduate Assistant Coach

Graduate student Allyson Thomas has been involved with the coaching world ever since she was old enough to drive.

It's her drive and dedication to athletics in general that has led her to VCU as Thomas enters her first season with the VCU SportsCenter Master's Program and her first year with the women's track & field program.

Thomas will be working on her Master's of Sport Leadership so that she can further her education and achieve her goal of becoming a head coach of a Division I track and field program.

She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maine with a B.S. in Kinesiology and Physical Education as well as her teaching certification.

The classroom was not the only place that Thomas had success as she was a four-year pole vaulter for the Black Bears' track and field team and was elected captain during her senior campaign.

She never finished outside the top eight in the pole vault at the America East Indoor and Outdoor Championships and finished fourth at the 2006 Indoor Conference Championships. She was also named to the America East Academic Honor Roll during all four years.

The Auburn, Maine native worked as a head coach for a middle school soccer team and a volunteer with a local high school track and field team during her time at the University of Maine.

Thomas first got involved with coaching during her outstanding high school career at Edward Little, where she was a three-letter varsity athlete. During high school, Thomas worked as a youth soccer referree and a volunteer soccer coach.
