RAMS TOP PENN STATE FOR SECOND STRAIGHT WIN

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Junior Laura Burns improved to 7-1 this spring and spearheaded a 5-2 Virginia Commonwealth University victory over Penn State Friday night.

Burns, a native of Hertford, England, routed Denisa Zobeideh, 6-1, 6-2 on the No. 3 court. She also teamed with sophomore Kateryna Yergina for an 8-3 win over Zobeideh and Lauren McCarthy at No. 2 doubles.

Yergina was also a double winner, taking down Maria Prishlyak, 7-6 (4), 6-0 on the No. 2 court.

Freshmen Alex Bara and Miheala Bunea also picked up victories for the Rams Friday.

VCU returns to the courts on Saturday, Feb. 14 when it meets Denver at 1 p.m. in State College, Pa.
