NORFOLK, Va. – Mihaela Bunea went 2-1 in singles action, while the Rams’ Bara sisters had a successful doubles weekend for Virginia Commonwealth University at the Old Dominion Invitational.

Bunea, a freshman from Bucharest, Romania, outlasted Erin Clark of Richmond, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (8) to reach the ‘A’ singles draw semifinals. Bunea, who also had a straight sets win in the round of 16, had her run ended by ODU’s Nadine Fahoum with a 6-4, 6-2 semifinal defeat.

Alex and Ana Bara each reached the ‘A’ draw quarterfinals in singles play. Additionally, they paired together in the ‘A’ doubles bracket and won their way into the finals.
