HUDSON NAMED FIRST HONOREE OF THE CRAIG WILLINGER FUND

BALTIMORE, Md. – The incredible story of Virginia Commonwealth University women’s soccer player Kate Hudson came to the attention of many Rams fans this past fall. (Check out Kate’s full story here)

Just a couple months later, her story is being spread even further as she was recently named the recipient of the inaugural honoree of the Craig Willinger Fund. Kate and her father will travel to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa to see the United States play England on June 12.

“We could not have found a better candidate than Kate as the fund’s first trip recipient,” said Craig Willinger, cancer survivor and founding member of the fund. “Kate exemplifies what we are all about: living an extraordinary life, despite the obstacles that fall in your way.”

Hudson recently completely her first year of graduate school, where she is working on her master’s in social work. She spent the fall as the starting goalkeeper for the Rams, posting six shutouts on the year.

The Craig Willinger Fund, formed in 2009, seeks to improve the lives of children and young adults stricken with cancer by providing a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience world-class soccer – both domestically and abroad and is actively searching for their next honoree.
