While with the Spiders:

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em: After three seasons with the cross-town rival Spiders, Hudson comes to VCU to finish her master’s degree and use her final year of eligibility with the Black & Gold. In her three years, Hudson went 0-3 against the Rams. She was only in net for two of those contests, registering eight saves and came up on the short end of two 1-0 VCU victories.

Taking over the net: While at Richmond, Hudson quickly asserted herself as the go-to keeper, making 37 starts between her sophomore and junior seasons.

Tourney Time = Hudson Time: In Hudson’s only trip to the A-10 Tournament with the Spiders in 2007, she stepped up her game in a big way, registering 11 saves in two contests, only allowing one goal in a tough 1-0 loss to top-seeded Charlotte.

Third Times a Charm: Hudson used her junior year at Richmond, the 2007 campaign, as her breakout year, making all 22 starts and allowing just 24 goals for an average of 1.08 on the year, while posting an outstanding save percentage of .800 in nearly 2,000 minutes of action.

Prior to UR/VCU:

Crowning of the Champions: Hudson is no stranger to winning championships. She helped guide the River Hill Hawks to two AAA county championships, two AA regional championships and one AAA state championship over her four seasons. The state championship came during her freshman year.

Master of the Metro: Earned All-Metro honors from the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun during her junior and senior seasons.

A seat in the Principal’s Office: Most of the time getting sent to the Principal office is a bad thing. Not for Hudson. She earned the Principal’s Athletic Award for the most outstanding senior athlete after her stellar senior campaign.

In Search of a Bigger Trophy Case: Hudson’s high school honors include a two-time member of the All-County team, an All-State honoree as a senior and the Golden Glove Award winner at Mike Curry’s Goalkeeping Academy during her sophomore year.

Hudson on the loose: Soccer was not the only thing Hudson limited to in high school as she was a three-time letterwinner on the Hawks indoor and outdoor track & field squads.

Getting to Know Kate

More than meets the eye: Hudson has plenty of backstories to her life but her completion of the 2009 Rock N' Roll Marathon in San Diego, California may be the best one yet. After battling through her own battle with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma during high school, Hudson came in close contact and friends with a seventh-grader named Amanda Post. Post has been in out and of cancer treatments and because Post could not run the Marathon, Hudson completed the 26.2 mile journey in honor of her close friend.

Golden Boy
: If given the opportunity to meet one celebrity, Hudson said she would want to meet Michael Phelps.

Hitting up the IPOD: Hudson is a passionate music fan and can found running the streets of Richmond with it strapped around her arm.

Exercise Junky: Along with playing soccer, Hudson is a fitness nut. She enjoys running, swimming and playing pick-up basketball.

Dancing Machine: One of Hudson’s hobbies is breaking it down on the dance floor.
