WHILE WITH THE RAMS:
● HOME COOKIN’: Rorie has historically played some of her best basketball at the Verizon Wireless Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. During the 2008-09 campaign, she averaged 13.1 ppg at home compared to just 6.5 ppg on the road, in addition to posting double-digit scoring performances in 13 of the Rams’ 16 home games.
● IT’S TOURNEY TIME: A key part of the Rams’ run at the conference tournament the last two seasons, Rorie averaged 17 points and nine rebounds, including her first career double-double with 18 points and 10 boards against host James Madison last year. She netted a combined 30 points in the Rams’ first two CAA tournament games in 2008, helping lead VCU to its first-ever appearance in the conference title game.
● A REGULAR RAM: Rorie has been a regular in the VCU lineup since receiving the starting nod in the final eight games of her freshman campaign. Entering the 2009-10 season, she has started 64 of the past 66 games for the Rams.
● HOMETOWN PRIDE: In front of her hometown crowd in Charlotte, N.C., Rorie scored 11 points to help VCU defeat Charlotte in the first round of the 2008 Women’s National Invitation Tournament, the program’s first-ever postseason appearance.
PRIOR TO VCU:
● PREP STAR: Rorie played four years of basketball and one year of softball for the Harding University High School Rams. She led the team to regional championship and state semi-final appearance as a senior and was named Conference Player of the Year, All-Region, Regional All-Tournament and State Scholar Athlete during her final season.
● SHOWCASIN’ SKILLS: A star on the hardwood, Rorie played AAU basketball for prominent squads Charlotte Fire and N.C. Lady 76’s.
● FAMILY TIES: Rorie is the second cousin of former North Carolina and NBA star Joe Forte and WNBA’s Allison Feaster. She also has a twin brother, La’Terrance, and four other brothers, La’Twaine, La’Tarrian, La’Tavian and La’Terrick.
