Yue Liu

Yue Liu is in her second season with the Black and Gold following an exemplary playing career at Temple University from 2004-07.
Liu's impact in 2008 was apparent, as she helped the Rams stage a seven-victory turnaround from the previous season. VCU finished second in the Colonial Athletic Association regular season in 2008, the school's highest finish to date..
A 6-1 outside hitter as a player, Liu earned three All-Atlantic 10 First Team awards at Temple and was also named the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2004.
Her best season as an Owl came as a junior in 2006, when she averaged 4.55 kills and 4.0 digs, while hitting .273. A two-time team captain, her 1,655 kills rank third in school history.
"VCU is fortunate to add such a good technician of the game," VCU Head Coach James Finley said of Liu's appointment. "Yue has a great eye for the opponents’ tendencies and has the ability to recognize skill and techniques of our players that need modified. Then she knows how to help them be successful. She will be a great part of our team."
Moreover, Liu has 12 years of experience playing on the Chinese Army team, one of the top clubs in the country. She is also a member of the Chinese Junior National Team and helped lead the 1999 squad to the International Championship.
Liu has also spent three summers coaching at Temple’s volleyball camps, and has recently worked with the PowerZone Volleyball Club of Denville, N.J.
A native of TianTing, China, Liu received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from Temple in June 2008. |
