VCU INVITATIONAL SET FOR APRIL 17, 2010

Virginia Commonwealth University men's and women's track would like to introduce the 2010 VCU Invitational at VCU's Sports Backers Stadium on Saturday, April 17, 2010.

Below is the tentative meet information, along with the schedule of events and directions to the facility. Schedule of Events
Facilities Sports Backer Stadium is an 8-lane, 400m Martin Surface track with 48 inch wide lanes and a full compliment of throwing facilities within the main stadium, 4 long/triple jump pits, 2 horizontal jumps pits and 2 pole vault pits.
Clerk/Check-In

Field Events: Athletes may report 1 hour up to 30’ prior to the scheduled start of their event. All athletes in later flight are asked to check in prior to the initial start.

Running Events: Please check in at the Clerk Area no later than 30’ prior to the start of your event. Report to your respective start area no later than 10’ prior to the start of your event.

Weigh-in

Weigh-ins will be Saturday morning between 7-8 am. Any implements not weighed in by this time will not be allowed in the competition. Implements will be impounded and brought to the event site 1 hour prior to event start by event officials.

Spike Length

Pyramid only…Maximum ¼ inch or 7mm length.

Restrooms Restroom facilities are located underneath the press box seating area.
Team Camps

Please set up your tents and team camps outside of the track area behind the fence. The infield area must be kept clear at all times.

Scoring There will be an overall Team Champion.  
Qualifying

Field Events: All rounds are finals-no prelims and no minimums (4 attempts)

Running Events: Sections versus time (faster sections run first)

Trainers Our main training area is located under the tent on the grass area outside the fence near the finish line. Fluids will be available at numerous locations around the track.
Weather Emergency

In the event of bad weather, the meet will be postponed and athletes, coaches and staff are asked to evacuate to team buses. Please listen closely for all announcements and updates.

Awards

T-shirts will be given to the winner of each event upon completion on their events.

Results Results will be available on-line on the VCU Athletics website immediately after the meet. A small number of hard copies will be available to head coaches at the conclusion.

Entries must be received no later than 2pm Monday, April 12, 2010. No exceptions. Due to the limitations of our facility and our proposed time schedule, and in an effort to ensure a timely and efficient competition, meet management reserves the right to limit entries.

Entry Fee $250 per team ($500 for men and women). $20 per athlete if fewer than 10 entries. Please make checks payable to: Virginia Commonwealth University. Please bring your entry fee to meet. No personal Checks will be accepted, College or University checks only. Note: These are ENTRY fees based on entries at the scratch deadline, regardless of actual participation.
