PRIOR TO VCU:
● Comes to VCU after a two-year stint at San Jacinto College, which finished second in the nation in 2008.
● Registered six saves in San Jacinto’s 1-0 loss to undefeated Yavapai College in the 2008 National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament final in Phoenix, Ariz.
● Allowed one goal in 10 games as a freshman and notched 52 saves in 937 minutes, earning him First Team All-Region recognition.

PRIOR TO SAN JACINTO:
● Was a 2007 graduate of InterAmerican High School in Guatemala, where he also played basketball.
● Earned team MVP honors as a member of InterAmerican’s soccer squad during his senior campaign.

GETTING TO KNOW GABRIEL:
● Born in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
● Son of Gabriel Rodriguez and Annabella Palomo and has two brothers.
● Enjoys playing the drums and working out in his free time.
● Lists his favorite food as Italian.
● Enjoys watching Roger Federer and cites his favorite sports team as F.C. Barcelona.
● Aside from soccer, he enjoys football and tennis.
