While at VCU
Quick Start: In the first game of the 2008-09 season, Nixon tallied double-digits for the first time in his career with 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting in an 82-59 victory over Citadel (Nov. 16th)
A in Athleticism: Nixon is recognized as probably the most athletic player on the Rams’ roster, being well known for his ability to slash into the lane.
Hard Work Pays Off: Hard work in the gym between his freshman and sophomore seasons paid off for Nixon, who shot nearly twice as good from beyond the arc (29.4% last year, 15.8% freshman year), and averaged over twice as many rebounds per game (2.0 rpg last year, 0.5 freshman year) and nearly three times as many assists (32 last year, 12 freshman year).
Making Every Second Count: Nixon has been known to score in bursts, pouring in eight points in 20 minutes versus William & Mary (2/7/09), five points in eight minutes against Akron (2/23/08) and nine points in 21 minutes (12/15/07) against Longwood, all of which were Rams’ victories.
The High School Days
Sunshine State Senior Standout: Nixon’s senior year at Lakewood was a memorable one, earning County Player of the Year honors along with First Team All-State accolades and a nomination for Florida’s Mr. Basketball.
Leaving a Mark on the Stat Sheet: The box scores of Lakewood High School started and ended with Nixon, who led the team in scoring and rebounding for his final three seasons.
Donating to Charity: Nixon was a near lock from the charity stripe, leading the county all four years.
Two more titles for the Bulls: Like the Chicago Bulls, Nixon’s AAU squad, the Jacksonville Bulls, were synonymous with championships and captured the Florida State AAU championship in back-to-back seasons.

Getting to know Ed
The Dunk Champion: Rams fans know Nixon for his drives to the rim and so do his teammates, who listed Nixon as the most popular choice for the teammate most likely to win a dunk contest. He received eight out of a possible 13 votes.
The Next Big Star: Nixon has hopes of becoming a rapper after his basketball career comes to an end. He has already started to practice, listing “singing in the shower” as one of his favorite activities outside of basketball.
Not an Easy Task: Along with playing against current Utah Jazz and former Ram great Eric Maynor in practice for the past two years, Nixon also faced off against current Los Angeles Clipper and former Indiana great Eric Gordon in AAU tournaments.
