Gaining Valuable Experience: Hinton earned a walk-on spot with the Rams last year and redshirted to gain valuable experience from the sideline.

The High School Days

Earning the Silver Medal, Two Times: Starring for four years at R.J. Reynolds High School, Hinton helped lead the Demons to a pair of 4A West Sectional Runner-up finishes.

Joy During the Junior Year: Hinton was a starter and important factor in the Demons’ run to the Central Piedmont Conference regular-season and tournament championships during his junior campaign.

Senior Sendoff: After leading the Demons in rebounding and blocked shots, Hinton earned All-Central Piedmont Conference accolades as a senior. He helped R.J. Reynolds to 19-9 record that season.

Follow the Leader: Hinton’s leadership skills were recognized by R.J. Reynolds Head Coach Billy Martin, who named him team captain prior to his senior campaign.

The Magic Touch: Along with playing for the Demons, Hinton spent time with the Kappa Magic AAU squad near his Winston-Salem, N.C. hometown.

Getting to know David

Move Over, Phil Knight: Beyond basketball, Hinton hopes to one day become a product manager for Nike.

Crazy for Shoes: One of Hinton’s favorite activities outside of basketball is collecting shoes, and his favorite website is sneakernews.com.

In Search of a Horse: Hinton listed polo as his sport of choice if he wasn’t playing basketball.

Playing Against Some of the Best: Growing up in Winston-Salem, Hinton got the chance to play against some of the best players around, including current NBA star Chris Paul.
