BURGESS COLLECTS SECOND STRAIGHT CAA ROOKIE AWARD

RICHMOND, Va. – Highlighted by an upperclassman-like performance against fourth-ranked Oklahoma, Virginia Commonwealth University freshman Bradford Burgess (Midlothian, Va.) collected a second straight Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honor Monday.
Burgess scored a career-high 15 points and hauled in a personal-best seven rebounds when VCU (7-4) faced the Sooners on Saturday, Dec. 20 in Oklahoma City. He also provided eight points in the Rams’ victory over Akron Dec. 17.
In two games last week, Burgess averaged 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds, while shooting .563 from the floor. Burgess has started all 11 games this season for VCU is averaging 8.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and shooting .492. Burgess has also knocked down 12-of-25 3-pointers.
Burgess and VCU return to action on Saturday, Dec. 27 when they host Hampton at the Alltel Pavilion at the Stuart C. Siegel Center at 7:30 p.m. |
