CAMPOS IS CAA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior earns honor after winning Landfall Tradition

RICHMOND, Va. - Rafael Campos keeps collecting honors while continuing to look out for the return of his golf clubs.

Campos, a VCU junior from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, has been named the Colonial Athletic Association’s golfer of the week.  Campos won the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. by two strokes.  He helped lead VCU to a third-place finish among the 12 teams competing.

It was the second victory of Campos’ collegiate career.

He won at Landfall with a makeshift set of borrowed clubs.   Campos competed for Puerto Rico in the World Amateur Championships in Adelaide, Australia earlier this month.  His clubs got lost en route back to Richmond and he still hasn’t seen them.  Teammates and VCU coach Matt Ball loaded Campos some of their extra clubs.

Campos is the second Ram to earn CAA honors in the fall season.  Fellow junior Lanto Griffin (Blacksburg, VA) was the league’s golfer of the week twice.
