FORMER RAM MOVES ONTO FINAL STAGE OF PGA Q SCHOOL

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Former Virginia Commonwealth University golf standout Ted Brown qualified for the third, and final, stage of the PGA’s Q School Nov. 18-21 at Callaway Gardens.

Brown, who led the Rams to three Colonial Athletic Association titles from 2000-02, finished 16th at 9-under par (71-69-70-69=279) at the four-day event.

The top 20 finishers moved onto the final stage, which will be played Dec. 2-7 at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.  

If Brown places in the top 25 at Bear Lakes, he will earn his PGA Tour Card. Those who place 26-75th will be granted exempt status on the Nationwide Tour. The rest of the field will receive conditional Nationwide Tour status.

While at VCU, Brown won the CAA Individual Championship in 2002 at The Crossings Golf Course in Richmond. Brown earned All-CAA First Team honors in 2001 and was second team in 2002. He was also a member of the Rams’ squad that qualified for the 2002 NCAA Championships. In 2003, he qualified as an individual for the 2003 NCAA Championships.
