VAN DESSEL TWINS CLAIM SECOND STRAIGHT RAM OF THE WEEKE HONORS
Sophomore nets two goals, three assists on the weekend

RICHMOND, Va. – It’s been quite a start to the 2008 campaign for the van Dessel family as Marle van Dessel (Oisterwijk, The Netherlands) earned Ram of the Week honors, just one week after her twin sister, Flore, was recognized with the same award.

This week it was Marle who helped lead the Black and Gold to a 1-1 weekend at Davidson College with two goals and three assists as VCU stands at 3-1 on the year.

Marle’s big day came on Sunday afternoon as she banged home two goals and tallied two assists to lead the Rams to a 5-2 thrashing of the Highlanders of Radford University.

She also added an assist on one of Lindsey Jones’ two goals in a tough 4-2 loss to Davidson on Saturday afternoon.

For the season, Marle leads the squad with three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. Six of her seven shots on the year have been on target, another category she leads the team in.

van Dessel and the Rams will open up their 2008 home slate with a 12 p.m. contest against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday afternoon, followed by a 1p.m. match with Penn on Sunday.
