AWARDS KEEP COMING FOR FIELD HOCKEY’S SCHERRER
11-24-09

RICHMOND, Va. – The trophy case of Virginia Commonwealth University freshman Kelsey Scherrer (Chesapeake, Va.) continues to grow. On Tuesday, Scherrer was named to the WomensFieldHockey.com Division I All-Rookie Squad.

It’s Scherrer’s second postseason award in as many weeks. The speedy forward collected a NFHCA South Region Second Team citation on Nov. 19.

Scherrer, who was also an All-Colonial Athletic Association Second Team pick, led the Rams with 11 goals this season and 27 points. Behind Scherrer, the Rams scored 39 goals this season, their most since 2004. Scherrer was also timely. She provided three game-winning goals this season, including the clincher in the Rams’ 3-2 victory over 17th-ranked Iowa.
