Dear student-athletes,
Welcome to Virginia Commonwealth University. As you are probably already aware, being a student-athlete is both gratifying and demanding. Balancing the two, at times, will be a test.
You should also be aware that the privilege of being a student-athlete and a member of the VCU Athletics family carries with it certain obligations that we expect you to take seriously. As a means to assist you, this Web site houses compliance information — on athletics eligibility, employment and gambling policies, and banned substances — that you should be familiar with.
If you have questions or concerns about any matter, I encourage you to seek guidance from someone within the athletics department. The athletics family as a whole is responsible for rules compliance and we all take that obligation very seriously. Therefore, if you are unclear about any of the information presented here or have any questions regarding NCAA guidelines, please contact the Compliance Office at (804) 828-7618.
If you need to meet with a compliance staff member, we are located on the second floor of the VCU Sports Medicine Building, adjacent to the academic advising offices.
All my best,
Christian D. Pope
Assistant director of athletics for student services
